I'm currently reading
How to Make Money Using Etsy by Timothy Adam, an artist, etsy store owner, blogger, and entrepreneur. So far the book has been great. It walks you through the steps of setting up your store, teaches you things you should focus on and enhance, how blogging and social media are exteremely important, and that photography is one of the most imporatant parts of selling your products.
So far, my favorite section of the books deals with a group of interviews of successful full-time bloggers and etsy sellers. Something that I like most is that over and over again they all tell you to be yourself and to have fun. You can't worry about the number of readers or how quickly you are moving forward. They know and understand that it takes time and that you just have to believe in yourself and what makes you unique. The majority of them also all started their blogs as a means of exploration. Because they were looking for something. It became an outlet, a way for them to be doing exactly what they wanted to be doing, and eventually, it allowed them to quit their day job and become full time sellers and bloggers.
This book has been great. And while every piece might not directly apply to me I have learned so much and will try new things and hopefully expand my friend base, client base, and products based on things I learn and try from this book. Mostly I like this book because it lets me know that if you love something enough, have a unique voice, and believe in yourself, with simple marketing and the right imagery you can be successful... Now I just need to get working :-)
If you have an etsy store or are thinking about opening one I def recommend you read this.
